Hello! I'm Brad Naugle...
I'm the owner of Molehill Studios where I help people solve their problems (usually business problems) through illustration and animation. Even though I have a huge passion for animation, design, and the like, there's a whole lot of other stuff I like to do when I'm not working on my craft.
Music!
From tech-death metal to country classics, there's nothing quite as satisfying as finding a new (or "new to you") artist that you love. I've been listening to a lot of post-punk and funk lately, and that's been a lot of fun to dig into. I also enjoy playing music (often alone in my office). My instrument of choice is the electric bass, and has been since my middle school days. I also play the electric guitar and learned piano so I could better play with my small collection of analog synthesizers. Two good artists I would recommend to you today are Ásgeir if
you're into more chill stuff and Pissed Jeans for something heavier.
Food!
I mean c'mon who doesn't like food? Whether it's trying out a new restaurant in town or cooking with my wife for friends and family, there's always good times to be had around the table. I'm also a hot sauce fiend, so I always have about 10 different hot sauces on hand around the house. One of my personal favorites is Secret Aardvark, a tomato based hot sauce that doesn't have the same vinegary punch as a Tabasco or Cholula.
Reading!
I'm generally introverted, so there is a lot of appeal in curling up and getting lost in a good book. I often find myself reading Fantasy or Social-Psychology books (as of writing this post I just finished the first book in The Witcher series), as well as a good amount of graphic novels and memoirs. If you haven't read in a long time PLEASE note that you can probably access thousands of great audiobooks on your phone through your local library. No need to pay a huge sum for an Audible subscription.
Family!
Saving the best for last, family is my number one. My wife, Olivia, and I love to go on adventures across the country, but our latest adventure involves raising our new baby boy, Theodore, who is just turning three months old at the time of this post. Family was actually the main reason I started Molehill Studios in the first place. Morning coffee together and the time gained by having zero commute are some of my favorite simple pleasures provided by the opportunity I have through my work.
